School District

"This unique program brings the community to the classroom and the classroom to the community. Parents, teachers, law enforcement and students support and love this community-based approach to improving literacy and child safety," says Dawn Allen, Community & Press Relations for the Manatee County (FL) School District. Sponsors and volunteers visit classrooms, read to children and then surprise each child with their own copy of LET'S B SAFE and a BE SAFE BEE®. This program helps get the vital message of the text into homes (sharing it with siblings, parents or guardians) while also encouraging children to read on their own.

"This program...It was a hit with a capital H baby!" - Mayor Wayne Poston, Bradenton, FL

"We, as a community, should make this happen in every 1st grade classroom." - Sheriff Brad Steube

"The day that my son was given this book along with the bee, he was so excited to read it, not only to me but also to his younger brother" - M. Passalis

"The LET'S B SAFE Program addresses an important topic in a fun and memorable way. We are so grateful to Judy Alexander's non-profit, Every Child, Inc. for bringing this program to the youth we serve." - Nate Brown, Club Director, Roy McBean Boys & Girls Club of Sarasota County

"We are so grateful to the Elks for insuring that our children receive the LET'S B SAFE Program this year because keeping our students safe and promoting literacy are priorities at Daughtrey Elementary School. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!! Our students will benefit greatly!" - Lisa Heathcote, Assistant Principal at Daughtrey Elementary School
